MPLC has announced that Rory Shedden, Chief of Staff, will become the company’s new CEO.
Roy has been with MPLC since 2020 when he joined to support the existing leadership team. He brings with him a wealth of experience in scaling businesses across a number of B2B sectors and aims to bring a people first, customer first approach to the company.
MPLC, which collects licence fees on behalf of movie studios, TV production companies and other rightsholders is on a significant growth curve following investment from UK firm Tenzing.
Rory said :
“I am really excited to be leading such a great team at MPLC at this important time for the company and the entertainment industry. MPLC plays an important role making sure that content makers get paid for the fantastic movies and other programmes that they make and it is MPLC’s mission to help businesses understand this and become copyright compliant in the easiest way possible, with an MPLC Public Performance licence.
Every licence we sell not only supports our customer to be compliant with copyright law, but also helps fund the next generation of shows and movies we all love to watch.
Research shows that we have a long way to go with many businesses still struggling to understand their legal obligations when showing movies and similar programmes on TV to the public so it’s important that we grow our teams of licence advisors and also work hard to educate people and make buying a licence as simple as possible.”
Rory will start his new role immediately.
